To begin become a physician assistant, one must first obtain a bachelor’s degree in a pre-medical field. Suitable majors may include biology or chemistry, to name two examples. An accredited educational program must then be completed that is specifically tailored to becoming a physician assistant. The program should last approximately two years, and typically the program will end with the obtainment of a master’s degree. After these six years of education and training, aspiring physician assistants must pass a licensing exam. A license is required by every state in order to enter the field.

The average salary for a physician assistant in other countries is slightly comparable to the United States. However, these salaries tend to be slightly lower than the United States provides.
