Job description of a chiropractor

What does a chiropractor do? As a chiropractor, you treat patients who have medical problems related to the muscles, bones and ligaments and tendons. You will make use of techniques such as spinal manipulation to treat ailments such as back pain.

You will perform a diagnosis of the patient to determine what is causing their pain. Perform tests to analyze the patient’s posture and spine. You will also in certain cases use heat and cold treatment methods on injured parts of patients. A chiropractor also provides advice to patients about their general lifestyle from sleep to exercise. You will also have to determine if patients need additional medical treatment and refer them to the appropriate medical specialist.

Chiropractors believe that the spinal column and joints need to be in the appropriate alignment for a person to have optimum health. They believe that when this is not the case, a person’s nervous system is affected and the person becomes less resistant to disease.

Methods used by chiropractors include, spinal column and joints manipulation, heat and cold treatments on affected areas, acupuncture and massage therapy. They may also use support systems such as tapes and braces to help patients cope with pain.

they are way off! I do not know one chiro making over 100K but i know plenty making 35-55k.

    • Dr. B. Smith says:

I’ve been in the profession for over 8 years and there are plenty of chiropractors making over 100K per year. New grads will make 35-55K. It depends where you practice and self employed chiropractors make a lot more than salaried ones.

    • chiro says:

Many chiropractors make way beyond 100k per year. The reason the salary of chiroprators especially those who have own clinix i that they usually set up private company and report their salary as certain amount and this is usually way lower than what actually they make. This is not 100 percent illegal since they cant really measure how much they can make every month. It could be different from month to month. If chiropractors are making less than 200k per year, most of them wouldnt even start the profession.

      • Whazzat?!? says:

You say: “…they (Chiropractors who own their own clinic) cant really measure how much they can make every month.”

They can; you take the whole year and divide it by 12. That’s waht people on salary +bonus/commission do. Same thing.

The important element for anyone (chiro’s included) who own their own practice, is using the profit before tax (and before any own salary and/or drawings) earned for the year, divided by 12, and this after all debt service any practice purchase, for the purchase of equipment, etc. If some quote their salary or their drawings only, well, yes that is wholly subject to circumstances and will likely skew figures.

  2. shon says:

we have this management company where i live called pinnacle that tries to convince people they will make ONE MILLION a year being a chiropractor.
    1,000,000!
My brother in law STILL thinks he will be making ONE MILLION a year and yet after all these years he STILL isnt making anywhere near that.
He paid them like $40,000+ plus for their “services” and HE has to fly and give speeches all over the united states ON HIS DIME(he LOSES money!).
He works like 23 hours a week ,takes TWO to THREE hour lunches and is closed on friday and the weekends.
He thinks he will be making ONE MILLION a year working 23 hours a week.
1,000,000 a year is like FOUR TIMES what the highest listed salary for a chiropractor is.
